The document below is a petition to the Miss. Govenor John Pettus.  The petition is to discharge Mr. Daniel McGilvary so he can help his struggling family back home.  The petition is signed by several family members. There are signatures for Hugh McDonald, Henry E Lee (Hugh's son-in-law), Calvin McDonald (Hugh's nephew through his brother William McDonald), and Peter McDonald.  Peter would enlist into the Confederate Army in January 1863.  Nancy McDonald is also listed but I'm unsure of the relation.
